Detox Yourself Post Diwali Naturally With Ayurveda

06-Dec-2022

Looking in the mirror, thinking about what has happened to that perfect Diwali body? Aren't we all   guilty of eating lots of sweets and oily snacks? Don't be ashamed now!

The Post-Diwali detox is here.

Diwali, The most awaited festival in India, has recently gone by. In addition to the silk clothes, fireworks, and diyas (light), we all know we all were indulging into overeating of snacks and lots of mithais (sweets).

In the case of Diwali, excessive eating and eating unhealthily are granted! Most of the time, the Diwali overindulgence begins about a week before the celebration and continues until the day after. And who can stop you? It's Diwali, after all!

After the celebrations,we start to feel guilty, and tend to be in an extreme state, which includes fasting without any specific plan or diet. Detox is important; however, it must be executed sensibly. Let us know how to eliminate all the piled-up toxins from the body by following an amazing Ayurveda detox diet plan.

Shake Your Hands with Water

Yes, you heard me correct; as cliche, as it sounds, water really does wonder to your body. Drinking enough water a day makes enough difference to your body. Water helps eliminate all the piled-up toxins from sweets and snacks you may have consumed in Diwali by flushing out from your body, making you feel lighter.

You can try the following recipes to add some flavour to your plain water:

Ginger Water

  • Add ¼ tsp of dried ginger powder to five glasses of water & boil it.
  • It will clear your body of toxins and will open the blockages in your body.

Barley Water

  • Soak barley overnight.
  • Pressure cook with 5 glasses of water.
  • Filter and keep drinking this throughout the day.

 CCF Tea

  • Take 2 cups of water in a pan and bring it to a good boil.
  • Once bubbles begin to increase, go on and add 1/2 tbsp each herbs coriander, cumin, of fennel seeds into the pan.
  • Let the concoction boil well and once it does, strain it .and pour into the cup your tea is ready to drink.

Load up on Green Veggies

Fruits and vegetables with fresh leaves look and feel good. Green vegetables must also be eaten if you want to get back into shape. They don't taste as good as pasta or cupcakes, but remember this one moment of taste from junk on your lips and forever on your hips. You choose!

Include these vegetables more in your diet: Zucchini, squashes, carrot, onion, garlic, sweet corn, bell peppers, snap beans, broccoli, spinach, gourds like bottle gourd, ash gourd, celery, white/red pumpkin, and asparagus.

Lifestyle Changes

It is critically important to have a regular exercise routine. Spend one hour a day exercising your body in the following way: 20 minutes of yoga or Pilates; 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise such as running, cycling, swimming, dancing, or aerobics; 10 minutes of weight training.

Practise Pranayama:

  • Anulom vilom: 10 minutes every day
  • Kapalbhati: 10 minutes every day
  • Utkatasan (chair pose): 5 times a day
  • Hastapadasan (standing forward bend): 5 times a day
  • Suryanamaskar (sun salutation): 5 times everyday including all 12 yoga postures.

Also do Bhujangasan (cobra pose), Naukasan (boat pose), and Salabhasan (locust pose) each 5 times a day. Focus on yoga postures for thighs, tummy, butts, and tyre reduction.

You can burn calories and stay energized by walking for 30 minutes in the morning and another 30 minutes at night.

 Say Goodbye to Sugar

Reduce your sugar intake because, frankly, the craving is merely in your head, and your body does not require it constantly.

Reducing sugar consumption in daily diet is crucial since excessive consumption can increase the risk of various health ailments, including fatty liver, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease.

Instead, these sweeteners you can include in your diet: Jaggery (solidified sugar cane juice), date sugar, molasses, rice syrup or honey.

Natural Detoxification Treatment For Post Diwali Detox (Panchkarma)

Detoxification at Ayushakti is an extremely powerful three to a five-week program which follows five steps; preparation, accumulation, elimination, lubrication and finally, rejuvenation of the body.

First, the body is prepared for cleansing by specific herbs and ghruts (medicated ghee). Then, using an anti-clog massage, all the toxins from everywhere in the body are pulled down to the digestive tract.

Detox is the Ayurvedic cleansing process for body, mind and emotions that helps you to create holistic health and well-being in your life. Digestive impurities such as mucus and metabolic toxins pile up in the veins, intestine, liver and joints. They circulate throughout the entire body and block the system. Continuous build-up of these impurities can cause physical and mental disorders and diseases.

A Detox helps to improve metabolism, reduces swelling, and removes the blocks of Ama toxins. This invigorates circulation and bodily functions. You feel very light and refreshed due to the reduction in body weight.

This weight loss is usually maintained naturally, even after the detox, as your metabolism gets to work better.

Takeaway

Life is a time to rejoice. Festivals like Diwali only add to the fun, but there needs to be a balance. Therefore, while it is acceptable to live life to the fullest, you must detoxify later. However, this does not mean you resort to extreme measures. Take care of your body by listening to it and doing the best for it.
